Day 7

Sam had the weekend off after making such good progress last week, and started out again this morning wishing he hadn’t. After 6 days of walking and 2 lying around doing very little, Sam had seized up and it took a good few miles to get the blood flowing back into his aching muscles.

His route today would see him leaving Yorkshire and heading to Sherwood Forest and the county of Nottinghamshire. Almost by magic, as Sam crossed the county border, the rain stopped and the sun came out, which was a welcome sight as it has rained persistently since he entered Yorkshire last week, so the chance to walk with the sun on his back was a joy.

Spurred on by the weather Sam strode off towards Sherwood Forest, fully expecting to meet some men in green tights and a bloke called “Fryer tuck”, he could hardly contain his excitement. Unfortunately, the band of merry men he was so looking forward to meeting could not be found, but on the up side, he did meet a much friendlier “local” than last week. The young man enquired “what shirt is that?” making reference to Sam’s Southgate RFC top but following Sam’s response, the man’s hunger for more information (and company) began to make Sam feel a little nervous. As the young man seemed to have taken quite a shine to Sam and wouldn’t leave him alone, Sam broke into a quick jog, followed by an out and out run to get away from the mentalist.

Things then settled down again and he made excellent progress to finish the day in Market Worsop.

was this mentalist wearing tights? Not sure what impact that would have on the situation, but if he was perhaps it might be an idea to invest in a pair Sammy - blend in with the locals etc. Which reminds me, when are we going to see some photos? Would be great to see the rippling muscles your developing, the flooding, the healing process of chafing and you wearing a pair of tights!
